The World Just Got A little Better
Google just slid its tentacles into the annals of civilization and ripped out a gem of human knowledge: the entire back catalogue of Popular Science (from 1872 - 2008), free, searchable, and hyperlinked.
Wow.
Google has also indexed a ton of other magazines, and will eventually fold the results into the search engine proper. From the official announcement:

Of Books and Hammers

As a technology, the book is like a hammer. That is to say, it is perfect: a tool ideally suited to its task. Hammers can be tweaked and varied but will never go obsolete. Even when builders pound nails by the thousand with pneumatic nail guns, every household needs a hammer.
