Amazon Goes Social

From Josh at the Shelfari blog:

It’s an exciting day here at Shelfari. The rain has stopped, the birds are chirping and the biggest news of all – we are being acquired by Amazon.com.

It was only a matter of time until Amazon snapped up one of the bibliophilic social networking sites. Strangely, although Shelfari is probably the slickest service, its more established competitor LibraryThing would seem to be a better bet. Oh, that’s right. Amazon recently acquired Abebooks, which also happens to have a 40 percent stake in LibraryThing.

Resistance is futile.
