On Designing NASA

Star Trek uber designer Mike Okuda also created a bunch of patches for NASA. From an interview at Space Review:

I love the style of military unit or squadron emblems, that wonderful sense of bravado, since that’s such a big part of NASA’s culture. I try to let the practicality and elegance of corporate identity graphics inform my work, as well. I try to design things that are legible at a distance, even when it’s small in the corner of a PowerPoint presentation or rendered in a low-resolution medium like embroidery.
